Hey guys!
First off, let me say thank you for such the awesome response to our blog and our friend on Twitter. Thank you ALL so much for your emails, messages, and “Hi, how are ya’s.”
So, here we are at volume 1 of “Letters to the Editors.” When K and I receive feedback, concerns about the creative direction, or just overall nonsensical hilarity in the form of words, we do our best to really put our thoughts and time into making the best decision for our friends. After all, we couldn’t make this into a reality without you all.
As we first started planning how EU would feel and look, we were initially trying to get the right tone out of every single thing in the story and make it mean something. One specific thing that comes up a lot is character design. K and I looked through our emails and messages and came up with a lot of the same sentiments from a lot of people. That sentiment was the “Why the bushy beard on the male character?” One message that stood out from the rest, and made us think and chuckle at the same time, was one from NDWakelady on Twitter.
From NDWakelady:
“I vote that the Revolver Man have creepy stubble instead of the mountain man beard look.”
Well, NDWakelady, your vote has been counted, recounted, and really thought about. Alas, the beard must stay for a number of reasons.
Reason No. 1:
Reason No. 2:
It’s ominous, befitting, and yet ironic to who the character is. As you will soon read, the “Revolver Man” has a rather trite way of conducting business and his unkempt beard is very unlike the kind of person that he seems to be. Stubble says creepy, but the beard says emotionless and apathetic, while the straight laced suit says something entirely different.
In loo of these concerns over the ominousity of “Revolver Man,” from everyone, K and I had a meeting and the skull cap initially construed, is now removed from the man. Creatively it just doesn’t feel right, as one might miss the reason for a bald head in the story’s context.
Thanks again to all who wrote in to ezekielunknown@gmail.com, and thanks for the twitter message from NDWakelady. We really had to think about that one. :)
More updates coming soon, but until then…
Stay Unknown,
A
Just a quick note(update) to let you all have a warm welcome from the creative artistry team of K & A.
Welcome, Welcome!!
Thanks for taking the time to look around. We don’t have much posted yet, but there’s more coming very soon including a brand NEW novel cover, artist profiles, and more topsecret updates only you can find HERE for EZEKIELUnknown. (And while we’re at it, let’s just start calling it “EU” for short. I understand the connetations it might have with a certain European governmental regime, but ah well. Our goal, after all, is to get sued by Europe. Free Publicity!!)
Thanks again guys!
